Catch up and a question...other post below

We are packed and ready to go!!! San Francisco here we come. I have posts ready so I can blog while I am gone....addicted, that's right.

As I said yesterday, I am leaving this one up for votes on the question below.

Here is my question...please let me know what you think/like/prefer. Gina said it drives her nuts that I don't comment back in my blogs to those of you that visit. I have a weird rosemary reason that I won't share at the moment as to why I haven't done that....but, please tell me which is your preference. I will re-date this and leave it up while I am gone so I can get a good idea of what you all want. Thank you...for a lot.....your friendship, reading my blog, posting some of the most wonderful reads....and for coming back.

Well, you know how I'm voting. :)

i suppose it's probably more important to leave comments on other blogs than it is to reply to the ones in your own. i try to do both but often fail miserably...

I don't answer back in comments either. If it is something that needs to be answered I will send an email. But I would find it very annoying to go back and open up everyone's comments to see if they responded to mine. I don't ever go back to someone else's comments to do that so I don't know if they answer or not.

I vote to keep up the Rosemary way.

Have a great trip. (Yes, you are addicted, but we love it)

I still don't have this whole thing down but I vote for whatever you're comfortable with. It's been such fun catching up with your blogs but I desperately want your Juicy Couture bag. Will we get a picture of you and the bag on this trip? See, you can answer this question with a picture. ;-)

If it is a question you feel others would be interested in knowing, I would answer it in the comments, but I feel there is no need to comment on comments. Have a safe and fun trip!

No rules at all Rosemary...and thats the best way. If you feel something needs an answer you will answer it...if not okay...I don't often go back onto other people's blogs and check if they have reponded to mine, unless I know that that person responds to every one and some choose to do so...

I just can't do it.
Respond to every comment I mean.
I try to visit everyone on my blogroll, and leave a comment by way of appreciation, and I make a real effort to respond to direct questions.
Like several people have said,I don't always check back to see if there is a response to a comment I've left.

Oh, I don't mind one way or another. I'm not the best commenter - commentator, whatever it is, so I wouldn't begin to have an opinion one way or another. Sometimes it's fun when someone comments back, but I don't always go back to see if it happens anyway!

But I do like the phrase "Rosemary Reason" and I'm - as we speak - trying to invent a similar one with "Jennie."

I'm on your side. I don't see the need. I always appreciate everyone's visits to my joint and I am always respectful at theirs. Some people like to respond; that's their prerogative. Let 'em have fun.

Oh Rosemary, you have to do what you feel you need to do. If you want to comment, than go ahead. I sometimes will comment to those that visit and sometimes just visiting their blogs and commenting in their posts is my way of saying "thank you" for visiting my blog. There's no rules or regulations for blogging. Just have fun and enjoy it. Don't let it stress you, my friend.

I agree, that answering is sometimes not needed,i guess one just has to do what they feel is right. I sometimes don't get the chance to look at a blog for several days and then to remember what blog i wrote a question too.Checking in on blogs is a way to saying thank you. If it was a real question that someone askes maybe going to there blog and answering it there would be ok.
Have a good trip

I dont mind if you dont comment back to me, I know you read it and that is all that counts :)

I am addicted to my comments and I like to answer them because that whole exchange sometimes ends up being better than the original post. And it is fun when you leave a comment somewhere and pretty much know that the other person is going to comment back (and Sling totally does that, I don't know what he's talking about). But all that said, it's completely a personal decision. I have bloggers I read who never comment back and it doesn't keep me from leaving comments. I'm with JP/Sling on the whole importance of leaving comments when you visit a blog. I mean, it can start adding up time-wise but there's the whole thing of having shown up and letting the person know instead of just lurking.

All that said, I vote for you doing what you're comfortable with.

Have a totally fun time in SF!

I like to see comments back from the blog owner, Rosemary, but lots of people don't like to do that. I only occasionally comment on my own blog so I can't point fingers!

This is the age-old bloggers' dilemma. (or "dilemna", as they like to say on the Internets)

Here's the interesting part: When I used to reply to comments in my comments boxes, I wound up with 30-40 comments on each post. I think that's because a/ I was increasing the number myself, b/ because people would return to read my answers and comment again, and c/ because when people see that many comments they WANT to join the fray.

I don't know why I ever stopped. ;)

I'll be answering your question on my Hand-Me-Down Shrink blog now.
