A birthday

My dad would have been 104 today. I always thought of him as hard working and serious. I was wrong. As soon as I saw this picture I remembered my mom taking it. I was laughing at my dad and he was teasing telling me he was going to put tools in my purse. He has been gone 20 years and I still miss him everyday.

Yes, H-B dear cute Daddy of Rose! My Pops would have been 84 this month. I lost both him and Mom in 02 just a few months apart. That was one of the worst years in my life. HHM still misses them terribly as well, as they were very loving in-law parents to him.(He does not see or speak to his immediate family.) The 4 of us had a blast together for a long time. Good, good memories like yours!

My daddy would be 103 1/2 if he were still with us. I miss him everyday too, and he has been gone 12 years.

Your daddy looks like a nice and funny man.

Yes, that is a cute hat--and I can't help but think that he'd have to use some small tools to have fit them in that little purse, Rosemary. Whatever did you use that little thing for?

This should be a greeting card.

That is the COOLEST photo!! I agree w/ Auld Hat about it being a greeting card.
My dad's bday was in August too and was a year younger than yours. Miss him every single day, too.

A special photo indeed... thanks for sharing the moment!!

utenzi: It is not what fits in the purse it is the fashion of it. I remember this one having a little straw loop and slide closure. I was quite the fashion statement at 7.

Hugs Rosemary. We're both thinking of our dads these past couple of days aren't we?

He looks like a wonderful, loving guy. He must have been since he raised someone as special as you.

dan: A special hugh to you. You have had some huge losses over the last year. Thank you for the kind compliment.

Okay, I thought for sure I commented on this post! Sheesh, I'm losing my mind. Happy b-day to your dad. I LOVE that photo! And I miss my mom every single day too.... coming up on 32 years, and the missing her part doesn't get any easier. I love it - tools in your purse. That is so cute!
