Cuanto Le Gusta-come along for a ride.

On our drive to Bellingham Friday, Steve and I somehow started talking about songs from our childhood. No, the radio wasn't on so go figure. Anyway, Steve, who can't carry a tune even with a bucket on his head, remembered hearing "Cement Mixer, putti, putti" and gave me a rousing rendition. We both remembered Rag Mop, Doo-doo-doo-dah-dee-ah-da. I also remembered something that went sorta like "Why Must We Always go to Whymus?" but I can't find the lyrics to that song anywhere. I probably mis-spelled Whymus. But the one song that we both vividly remembered was this one. Have a good laugh and see how many 40's stars you recognize!

Is that Carmen Miranda? I have "Mama Eu Quero" and "Chica Chica Boom" on my Happy Dance playlist. I love her!

Our discussions usually go from "Ze car she needs a motor so we can't go anywhere" to "mairzy dotes and dozy dotes and little lambzydivy."

Ah, those were times when lyrics meant something.

Yup,that's her minus the fruit on her head. That's also Charrro's coochie coochie, Liz, Jane Powell and I think Walter Berennan.

Jan: Oh yea, Rag Mop is right up there with lyrics!

Do you really expect me to comment on this? I'm still reeling over the Swee Pea thing. Do you really think that anything is ever going to top that ever? No. It's not.

All of my comments from here on out will be about that cat. (and The Hat.) And I'm so not kidding.

Oh dear...now I feel a challenge coming on with your "Whymus" song. I guess it must be the former librarian in me. Do you remember any more of the lyrics???

Joan: All I can remember is the tune and: Why must we always go to Whymus? Why must you always take me there?

My mom would play her 78's...and she had hundreds...and this was one of her favorites.

I'd never heard that song before, Rosemary. About my only exposure to movies of the 40s is some coverage of that time period in documentaries like That's Entertainment. Other than a few classics like Casa Blanca and some Hitchcock movies I generally don't watch old movies.

I'm sorry Rose, but those of us who still have that old dialup just cannot play these things; so razzzzpppperies

First of all, I LOVE old movies. I have always loved Carmen Miranda, and especially that song. It brings back so many memories... I used to watch old movies on TV all the time back when I was in high school and college. Heck, as often as I could before I was married. Liz Taylor, Jane Powell, Wallace Beery, Xavier Cugat, Carmen Miranda, a very young Robert Stack...what a great cast! A Date With Judy is one of my favorite movies!

And I remember singing "Mairzy Doats" with my mom when I was a kid.
