Houston, we have a safe landing...musings of an aging wannabe

Steve has arrived in Qatar. We thought it was a 12 hour difference, but it is actually 10. It might make it easier to talk to him with a 10 hour difference. He has a "loaner" cell phone courtesy of his company....sort of....the phone actually belongs to another International employee....talk about working on the cheap.

I miss him. I want him to have a good time, enjoy the country and the customs and maybe even relax a little. When he gets to Hong Konk he will have shopping to do....he will need lots of rest.

When I was driving home from the airport and after arguing with the car dealership yesterday I was just thinking about random things.......like......

Why can't humans "renew" themselves during Winter just like the earth does.....you know, sleep a lot, lose our leaves and be bigger and better in Spring.

I wonder who had the first garage/yard sale?

Who invented snow plows?

Why am I blogging? Does this blog have any real meaning?

What happens to our mind and soul after we die? I wish there was someone around to tell me because this bothers me.

Why do I love kittens/cats so much? I hated them until 1982.

I wish I had been a blues singer. I could have sung with BB King and Lucille......and then there is Jackson.

And speaking of singers, did anyone hear Wayne Newton on DWTS on Tuesday? Wayne, retire.

What happened to Johnny Mathis? I used to sing along with him at the top of my lungs "I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord Of La Mancha...."

How did we go from earthen floors to wood and carpet?

Why do folks hang long curtains at their window and then tie them in a big center knot to let light or air in? Why not just pull them back on the rod?

What is the purpose of a headache? Is it punishment for thinking too much and asking questions?

Who decided wearing dress shoes and socks with shorts looked weird? And then there is the no white shoes after Labor Day.....why?

Why do people who live in and bitch about a particular place stay there?

Is anything ever really fair?

Why do hearts break? Given their structure, hearts should bruise badly, absorb the damage, learn from the bruise and heal with a tiny scar....don't you agree?
Emma Lee and Guido Fortunato, my sleeping buddies until Steve gets home....1 night down, 22 to go.

Those are a lot of questions!
This is how my brain works all day, every day. At some point it's just going to fry itself out. Maybe then I'll be genuinely happy.
Hope Papa Steve has a safe and happy stay.
Hope you don't get lonely.
You have my number if you need me.

The whole post is funny! Hope Steve has a good time and takes pics. Your cats are so pretty lying there by the window. I agree with you about Wayne - he was awful!

glad to hear your sweety made it to Cutter safely. I have another question for you...why do hairballs come in spurts of 2?

rosemary said...

Hat: I will call
kenju: it was the only time they were still all day.
madretz: i beleive the first one is the real hairball....the second oe is to remind you who runs the house.

Oh My gosh so many questions to think about, no wonder you have to think about why you get headaches LOL
Hope Steve has a good time, but i am sure it would be better if you were there with him.

I'll always have more questions than answers - thought I'd have it all figured out by now but realize it's all in the striving. Your blog has real meaning, it stimulates and tickles our brain.
Agreed, hearts shouldn't break but bruise badly and heal with a tiny scar. Love the kittens/cats - looks like they're counting the days too.

IMO

We would renew if we gave ourselves a chance to rest like nature does. We have Daylight Saving so we can remain productive when we should be concentrating on being reproductive.

The first person to own a garage, realise first that it was a better place to store crap than store a car, and then come to the realisation that storing crap is pointless.

Alaskan Farmers

Because you have a lot to say and live in an age where technology gives you the power to say it. What is the difference between real and fake meaning?

I'm an atheist - when we die we are dead.

Love and hate are the furthest points on a straight line continuum. But if you bend the line into a circle, Love and Hate sit right next to each other.

Not only did I not hear Wayne Newton, I have never heard of Wayne Newton. But I trust your judgement - "Wayne, if you're reading this, RETIRE."

I'm reading Don Quixote at the moment and can't understand why anyone would brag about being him - Is it possible Johnny never read it?

It's due to devolution where humans have a perfectly good system that is gradually wrecked generation on generation.

Middle class pretension

A headache doesn't have a purpose, it's a symptom of something, usually dehydration. If it did have a purpose maybe it is to say, "Look, I've given you a dry mouth and made it hard to swallow, now go and get some water."

The fashion police. I don't even know what labour day is, but white shoes are just wrong. (Yes, I am a secret agent of above mentioned fashion police, currently operating undercover to break a socks and sandals gang.)

At least it's more honest than living in one place and bitching about another. That, we call racism.

My middle son is very fair, but he'll probably end up like me.

Hearts don't break and they do bruise, particularly as a result of road traffic accidents - it's something to do with the route the seat belt takes across the chest. A breaking heart is a metaphor, or at least it was. And when it was coined, it would have been very effective. Unfortunately, it was too good for it's own good and has now become a dead metaphor, where people forget it's a metaphor at all and take it literally.

Great questions! And to refute Celerman - I'm a Catholic. When you die your soul goes to heaven if you have accepted Christ as your Savior!

I wish I had more answers for you but that's only one I can answer with conviction. Here's to safe travels for Steve and to peaceful nights for you.

Love,
Julie

Exactly...all of the above and some more...like do I see the same actual blue in the sky that you do...or do we just call it by the same name but see a totally different thing? HMMM

Wow. I don't know many of those answers. Love the cat pic, though. They seem pretty cuddly sleeping buddies until Steve returns, although I'm sure they're not as snuggly.

Here's a secret about me: When we had cats, I loved when they yawned in my face, cause I loved their sweet cat breath. It was never stinky.

Good gravy, girl! Are you smoking a joint? I don't have many answers, but I'll offer a few, along with commiseration and commentary.
--I wish we could hibernate. That would rock.

--i used be sure I knew what happened to us after death. Now I realize that none of us have any idea.

--do you sing?

--My mom LOVED Johnny Mathis, and he sang at a big dance she went to in high school.

--I'm glad we don't have earthen floors, I have enough problem keeping regular floors clean. I miss my heated tile floors in my old house.

--no clue why people do that with curtains. Then again, why did I like geese with bows in the 80s?

--dress shoes with shorts IS weird. Doesn't matter who decided it. Don't go there. The white shoes thing, though, the shoe industry, so we buy more shoes.

--people live in yet bitch about a place for 2 reasons: either they can't afford to move, because moving is expensive and there's the issue of jobs; or, people they love live there.

--no, nothing is fair. My dad told me that as a kid, often. He was right.

I always want to be a bit smaller in the spring, I don't know about you!

I wonder who had the first garage/yard sale?

That is a good question! I wonder if people came to it with pocketfuls of quarters.

Who invented snow plows?
Someone in NJ who thinks an inch of snow is cause for emergency.

Why am I blogging? Does this blog have any real meaning?
Yes, you have much meaning to me and at least 17 other people! The question is why am I blogging?! LOL

What happens to our mind and soul after we die? My mind is going to rot in the dirt where it belongs, but my soul is going somewhere major cool. :)

Why do I love kittens/cats so much? I hated them until 1982.
Funny you say that Rosemary - I never took you for a cat person! But you're such a good cat mommy, so I guess it's true.

I wish I had been a blues singer. I could have sung with BB King and Lucille......and then there is Jackson. Not too late for anything.

And speaking of singers, did anyone hear Wayne Newton on DWTS on Tuesday? Wayne, retire.
No, he's scary.

What happened to Johnny Mathis? I used to sing along with him at the top of my lungs "I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord Of La Mancha...."
dunno

How did we go from earthen floors to wood and carpet?
My question is how much of the earth are we going to pave?! I have a driveway the size of Detroit.

Why do folks hang long curtains at their window and then tie them in a big center knot to let light or air in? Why not just pull them back on the rod?Um, yeah, how come?!

What is the purpose of a headache? Is it punishment for thinking too much and asking questions?
I have one right now, so...I dunno

Who decided wearing dress shoes and socks with shorts looked weird? And then there is the no white shoes after Labor Day.....why?I think that dress sock with shoes bad fashion thing is pretty much one of those universal enlightenment things. It came to us at once because it is truth.

Why do people who live in and bitch about a particular place stay there?
Wait, let me get my husband...

Is anything ever really fair?
Huh uh

Why do hearts break? Given their structure, hearts should bruise badly, absorb the damage, learn from the bruise and heal with a tiny scar....don't you agree? Yes, I think they sorta collapse.
